The Salvation
Army is responding this morning to an urgent request from the State of Texas to report to Fort
Hood near Killeen, Texas,
site of the tragic shooting incident of Thursday afternoon, to provide pastoral
care and counseling to first responders, family members and children affected
by this horrific tragedy.

Captain Russell Czajkowski, a former United States Marine, will be overseeing
The Salvation Army's pastoral response efforts on site with direction from
Major James Taylor, The Salvation Army's Divisional Secretary for Texas.
The Salvation
Army is answering the call immediately and will report to the base to provide
spiritual care today and through the weekend from 9:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Salvation Army has a long history of
meeting not only physical needs of people in the aftermath of tragic events,
but also emotional and spiritual needs.
"We are honored
to answer this call and to provide what comfort and counseling we can to our
brothers and sisters during the aftermath of this horrific day," said Major
James Taylor.
